Hello and Welcome from Adrian Lomas

Tour de Force 2013

Thank you so much for visiting my fundraising page.

For those of you who know me, you won’t be too surprised to hear that I've set a new challenge. It’s a big one this year...that's for sure.

It's the opportunity to ride in the 2013 Tour de France! Not the actual race with all the professionals, I’m not that good, trust me, but instead I’m joining a team of fellow amateurs to complete every mile of the Tour just seven days before the pros.

So whats it look like for this years Tour?

The 2013 Tour de France will be the 100th Tour de France. For the first time, starting in Corsica.

The Tour will feature a set of stages which have been described as "brutal", including three Alpine stages in the last week along with a "viciously hard" time trial. These include a double ascent of l'Alpe d'Huez, the first time the tour will feature a double climb of this scale, and a long stage finishing at the top of Mont Ventoux.

There will be seven flat stages, five hilly stages, six mountain stages (with four summit finishes), covering a total of 3,360 kilometres (2,088 mi) all in 21 days. The Tour will finish as usual in Paris on the 14th July - Bastille Day.

It’s been a dream of mine for over five years, to ride the whole Tour De France route, so what better way than to help Kids by raising money for them. Every mile I go through, I hope to raise as much money as possible, to help give them a better start in life. This year its supporting the William Watts Memorial Trust.

Please please help me to support these kids. Thank you so much for your support...:-)

About The William Wates Memorial Trust (Tour de Force 2013)

On 22nd June 2013, nearly 80 Tour de Force riders gathered in Corsica. Some cycled a few days, some stayed for longer. More arrived to join us over the following three weeks. The event followed all 21 stages of the 2013 Tour de France route, staying 7 days ahead of the professionals, and finishing, approx. 3500 km later, on Bastille day (14th July) in Paris.

All monies raised by participants and their supporters goes to the WWMT whose mission is to help the most disadvantaged young people keep away from a life of crime and violence and fulfill their potential. This is achieved by giving grants to charities that engage young people through the mediums of sport, arts and education. No matter how many stages they ride, it's gonna hurt! Please reward their pain by giving generously!
