Hello and Welcome from Richard & Amanda Atha

H4H 4X4 European Rally 2012

Who We Are:

The A Team

Welcome to our BmyCharity Page in support of the Help for Heroes European 4x4 Rally 2012, if you have made it here it would be because you either know us, know one of our supportive friends and family or you have heard of our teams participation during recent events.

Our team consist of Richie our main driver (or he likes to think he is) who is a serving member of the Royal Air Force, Amanda (co-driver) who left the Royal Air Force 5 years ago after completing 14 ½ years service, Jessica 11, Joshua 7 and Charlotte 5 who will be taking up the position of back seat drivers. Our families have strong military links; Rich’s brother has recently left the Royal Air Force after 23 years service and served in various conflicts. Amanda’s brother is also serving in the Royal Air Force and has recently served in Afghanistan.

What are we doing?

The Help for Heroes European 4x4 Rally 2012 follows the route and tells the story of the Allied Invasion through Europe and includes parts fabled by the Band of Brothers book and television series. As young men, who knew extraordinary bravery and extraordinary fear, the Allied Forces landed in France early on D-Day morning – 6th June 1944. The liberation of Europe had commenced. We will retrace much of that route.

The event will start at Noon on Saturday 16th June 2012 at a location in North Wiltshire. After using byways on Salisbury Plain we will all go to Portsmouth to embark on the ferry over to France. It will be a 2000 mile/3200 km expedition and will travel through 6 countries in 13 days; concluding in Bavaria, Germany.

Why are we doing this?

Having successfully taken part in the 2011 H4H Rally, winning the Family class and raising £8,834.69, we are back to take on the challenge of 2012. Hopefully the experiences of 2011 will enable us to win even more silverware and raise even more cash for this worthy cause!

Between us our families have many years of military service and hopefully many more to come. We all find our lives are touched more and more by people we know or friends of friends who have been affected by conflict.

No matter what your political views are, our men and women of the Armed Forces do their jobs day in day out without question to maintain our safety both home and abroad.

By supporting us in our quest to complete the Help for Heroes European 4x4 Rally, you give your support to the great work that Help for Heroes does, be it by supporting the rehabilitation unit at Headley Court or the many other donations they give to Service charities such as RAFA, SSAFA and BLESMA to name but a few.

So please help us in doing OUR and YOUR bit and support us on our journey.

Many thanks for your time and of course your donation.

About Help for Heroes

Help for Heroes offers comprehensive support to those who have suffered life-changing injuries and illnesses whilst serving our country. This is provided through grants to individuals, other Service charities, capital build projects and our four Recovery Centres across the UK, in Catterick, Colchester, Tidworth and Plymouth. These will offer support for life. The money raised by the hugely generous public has been used to support our wounded, but there is still so much more to do. Soldiers, sailors and airmen who are injured today will still need our support tomorrow and in the days that follow, for the rest of their lives. They are still battling and we won't let them battle alone.
