Cathy Sims

Hello and Welcome from Cathy Sims

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.  I am doing a sponsored Firewalk to support the ABC Animal Sanctuary.  This involves walking over hot coals in bare feet - it sounds very scary!

The animal sanctuary rescues and rehomes (where possible) cats and various other animals.  It has no employees so all money raised is spent on looking after the animals.  Please help this very good cause by sponsoring me.

Donating through this page is simple, quick and secure. It is the most efficient way to give – so every donation goes further – and if you are a UK taxpayer and give Gift Aid consent you will boost your donation.

Thank you for your support.

About ABC Animal Sanctuary

The aim of the ABC Champions Animal Sanctuary, founded thirty years ago by actress Alexandra Bastedo, is to rescue abandoned animals and animals in distress. After these animals are restored to good health we then seek to find them a loving new home. In some instances - such as when the animals are very old, need permanent treatment / special diets, or have personality disorders caused by ill treatment - then we guarantee them a home at the Sanctuary, with care and protection for the rest of their lives. We frequently take in and care for animals that larger animal care organisations turn away. Our Sanctuary is presently home to numerous cats, donkeys, mini-shetland ponies, full-size horses and ponies, pot-bellied pigs, pygmy goats and over eighty ducks, geese, chickens and - a peacock with a deformed leg! To care for all these animals each day of the year we are fortunate to have the support of over fifty volunteers, without whom we just couldn’t offer the standard of care to the number of animals that we do. Because all of the staff at the Sanctuary are volunteers, all donations go in their entirety to support the welfare of the animals in our care.We also give back to the community - amongst the volunteers are many young people who seek to learn more about animal care, are training to work with animals, or completing their Duke of Edinburgh Award initiatives. We also work closely with local schools, teaching the children about the importance of caring for animals. The Sanctuary has no secure funding and is entirely dependent on donations for our existence and to ensure our long-term future. Please visit our website at www.abcanimalsanctuary.co.uk for further information on our sanctuary and the animals in our care.
