Hello and Welcome from Hands Around The World
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page for HANDS AROUND THE WORLD - ZAMBIA 2011 PROJECT.
AUKA VOCATIONAL TRAINING CENTRE CHIPATA, ZAMBIA
The aim is to build a vocational training centre for vulnerable, disadvantaged young people on the outskirts of Chipata, the main town in Zambia's Eastern Province.
Many of the young people are orphans of HIV/AIDS who have received little formal schooling.
The local community is very supportive and in discussion with the chief, has donated land and has promised building materials and labour with HATW securing additional funding for further building materials.
Together we hope to make a real and lasting difference to the needy children in the area.

About Hands Around the World
HANDS AROUND THE WORLD helps needy children around the world, sending volunteers to offer practical help, skill-sharing and friendship at our partner centres. HATW works mainly in Africa but also in India, and strives for happy, healthy children who are safe, cared for, listened to, well fed, clothed, housed and in school. 2000 children benefit every day, many are orphans and coping with disabilities.
There are at least 25 million orphaned children in Africa today. Most are victims of HIV / AIDS. “Our hands around the world may get grubby and blistered, they may need to hold a sick child or comfort a grieving parent, they may sometimes be asked simply to hold the hand of another, but there is always more to these hands than practical help alone.”
