Help for Heroes
Hello and Welcome from The Norwegian NightKapp Charity Rally Group Page
Thank you for visiting the Norwegian NightKapp Charity Rally group page. This is the third and final Rallies4Charity event. To date we have organised two rallies, the first was to Kalkan in Turkey and the second to Agadir in Morocco. Both of these rallies have been followed with hugely successful charity balls. To date our combined efforts have raised over £85,000 for Help for Heroes.
So, what's the plan this time ? Well, unlike the famous 80's pop duo, we can't "Go West". We have been East to Turkey and South to Morocco. This only leaves us North. So, it's to the land of the midnight sun, to the most northerly point of the European continent, the Norwegian Nordkapp....for a nightcap. To ensure that we get that midnight sun we aim to arrive for the Summer Solstice on 21st June.
Start : 12:00pm, 18th June, leaving Berkhamsted, England
Finish : 11:59pm, 21st June, arriving Nordkapp, Norway
Car : Porsche 944, costing less than £1100
This route covers a distance of 2896 miles......which is quite a long way. We will visit and take photos of our cars at landmarks in each of the above cities. The challenge is that we will complete this journey in 84 hours, which includes a 10km walk at the Nordkapp. We need to average 36mph..... no problem.
There are nine teams taking part in this challenge. The driver pairings are :-
- Andy Green & Mark Ellis
- Steve Turner & Nick Filleul
- Max Halliwell & Mark Crump
- John Wells & Dave Heard
- Adrian Griffiths & Ian Stretton
- James Percival & Graham Appleyard
- Mark Eastham & David Sherratt
- Steve Cole & Martin Gill
- Simon Taylor & Richard Anderson
If you would like to support me (Andy Green) or any of our teams then please look at our individual pages to make donations.
Thank you for your support.
About Help for Heroes
Help for Heroes offers comprehensive support to those who have suffered life-changing injuries and illnesses whilst serving our country. This is provided through grants to individuals, other Service charities, capital build projects and our four Recovery Centres across the UK, in Catterick, Colchester, Tidworth and Plymouth. These will offer support for life. The money raised by the hugely generous public has been used to support our wounded, but there is still so much more to do. Soldiers, sailors and airmen who are injured today will still need our support tomorrow and in the days that follow, for the rest of their lives. They are still battling and we won't let them battle alone.
