Rachel Biggs
London Marathon 2009

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page
I know I said to most of you within 48 hours of crossing the finish line never again. Well here I am again, I just couldn't resist the buzz and I will be running the FLM 2009.
I will again be running in aid of VICTA (Visually Impaired Children Taking Action) I am blessed with Alfie and Hollie who both have perfect eye sight, unfortunatley not all children born into this world are. This is where i ask for your help, please please sponsor me however big or small EVERY PENNY WILL HELP.
I need all the encouragement I can get and the charity certainly needs the help. Please feel free to pass this the link onto your friends and colleagues, those who know me and those who do not. Every penny raised will help children who suffer from impaired vision.
Thanks

A message from VICTA
Visually Impaired Children Taking Action – VICTA is a registered charity that provides support for visually impaired children and their families. Started in 1987 as a parents group, VICTA has grown and developed into a charity that now operates on a nationwide basis to support VI children and their families.
Here at VICTA, your sponsorship makes a huge difference, as the London and New York Marathons are the main fundraising events we participate in every year, and it is the runners in these events and their supporters that help us to continue to fund our important work.
The funds which VICTA allocates, whether to an individual or organisation, are aimed at assisting visually impaired children in reaching their full potential both socially and educationally. We operate in this way to maximise the impact of the funds our supporters raise and to ensure VICTA does not replicate what other organisations are already doing successfully.
We give a wide range of grants to individual children to help to improve their social and educational prospects in life. The specialist equipment ( such as software, braillers and computers) we provide helps them to be more independent in a technologically based world, while the specialist holidays we fund allow them to meet others with similar conditions while helping to build their confidence in a safe environment.
Grants given to other Visually Impairment children’s charities and parents groups nationwide, allow projects to continue and also to fund groups that are not as fortunate to have the brilliant fundraisers VICTA has. In the past year we have made large contributions towards schemes, events, magazines, as well as research and youth projects. Victa is a proud supporter of the National Library for the Blind and LOOK amongst others.
