Breakthrough Great Wall Discovery 2008

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2006.  This was followed by a long 18 months of treatment with chemotherapy, surgery and radiotherapy. During 2007, I had to endure a year-long series of thrice-weekly trips to hospital for Herceptin, the last one being in December.  2007 was undoubtedly a tough one but no harder to endure than the shock of my father dying last March. It has been a difficult time and we all miss him very much.

I now feel ready for a new challenge, which I hope will help me look forward to 2008 and beyond with a little more optimism as I try to make a few positive changes to my life.  I feel I would like to do some good and give something back, so the Breakthrough Breast Cancer Great Wall of China expedition in May is exactly what I need. I have signed up with four friends and we hope to raise significant, much needed funds for this good cause.

Donating through this page is simple, quick and secure. It is the most efficient way to give – so every donation goes further – and if you are a UK taxpayer and give Gift Aid consent the charity will receive an extra 28% at no cost to you.

Thank you for your support.

A message from Breakthrough Breast Cancer

In May 2008 a group of Breakthrough Breast Cancer supporters will be taking on the Great Wall of China in what promises to be the experience of a lifetime.

Each day they will be trekking for approximately 4-6 hours, along crumbling staircases and rough terrain, both on The Wall and off the beaten track.

Not only have these supporters taken on the challenge of conquering the Great Wall of China they have also taken on the challenge of raising as much sponsorship as they can for Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

Breakthrough needs to raise money to fund its vital programme of research and education. Please show your support and help Breakthrough Breast Cancer towards its goal of a future free from the fear of breast cancer.

To participate in this event please call 020 7025 2422 or email trekking@breakthrough.org.uk.
