Online fundraising

Thank you for visiting our fundraising page.

Our friend and colleague Wendy sadly lost her brother Captain Tom Sawyer in Afghanistan in Jan 09. Tom was a true hero who died for our country. In Tom's memory and in support of his family, five staff from our Hertfordshire children's home will be doing a parachute jump to raise money for Help for Heroes.
We will be organising various events (e.g. car boot sales) over the next few weeks to pay for the actual jump so all donations made on this page will go directly to Help for Heroes! It's an amazing charity so please give generously!

For those of you who donated through our previous page, Thankyou! The money has been paid to Help for Heroes....a huge £790.64!!! We had to change the fundraising page to allow us to do the jump with the army. This will enable us to raise more as the jump will cost less and also we feel it is more appropriate given Tom's loyalty to the army.

Donating through this page is simple, quick and secure. It is the most efficient way to give – so every donation goes further – and if you are a UK taxpayer and give Gift Aid consent the charity will receive an extra 28% at no cost to you.

Thank you for your support.

A message from Help for Heroes

"What is H4H all about? It’s about the blokes, our men and women of the Armed Forces. It’s about Derek, a rugby player who has lost both his legs, it about Carl whose jaw is wired up so he has been drinking through a straw. It’s about Richard who was handed a mobile phone as he lay on the stretcher so he could say goodbye to his wife. It is about Ben, its about Steven and Andy and Mark, its about them all. They are just blokes but they are our blokes; they are our heroes. We want to help our heroes."

The charity Help for Heroes was launched in October 2007 in response to the desire of ordinary people to do something practical to help our wounded servicemen and women. As individuals we are powerless to prevent war and we feel helpless that we are unable to stop our men and women from being killed and wounded. By joining together as Help for Heroes, we are doing something practical to help; we are doing our bit.
