Hull Foodbank
Hello and Welcome from Alistair D-P: Please support the new Hull Foodbank
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
I know the Great North Run was back in September, but with the Foodbank now literally days away from opening I wanted you to have a final chance to show your generosity and sponsor me through this new page.
Donating through this page is simple, quick and secure. It is the most efficient way to give (zero taken off for admin!) – so every donation goes further – and if you are a UK taxpayer and give Gift Aid consent you will boost your donation.
Thank you so much for being great sports and helping people in crisis in Hull.
About Hull Foodbank
60,000 people live below the poverty line in Hull. So every day, many people go hungry for all sorts of reasons ranging from redundancy, difficulty in receiving benefits, to having an unexpected bill on an already low income. The churches in Hull have set up the Hull foodbank to provide a minimum of 3 days emergency food and support to help individuals and families experiencing such crises. These supplies take the form of emergency ration packs to cover a family’s basic needs. Local professionals will give people in hardship a food voucher and refer them to the Hull Foodbank Centre. Here they will be given their food and signposted to any other support they may require. The benefits of the scheme to those who require help are invaluable, and it also provides another opportunity for our communities to engage and support those in need.
Although the food is donated through special collections at supermarkets, schools and churches, the work cannot continue without financial donations to pay for storage, transport, building, advertising, and some staff costs. Our vision is to see a network of such foodbanks linked together across Hull, supporting families and vulnerable people in every part of the city to get through a crisis. Please help us to make this dream a reality.
