Help for Heroes
Hello and Welcome from TEAM BATTLE BACK RACE ACROSS AMERICA
When first faced with the reality of a disability, many individuals experience a loss of confidence, depression, and believe that their active lives have ended. The sudden, traumatic change in physical ability makes them vulnerable to psychological and emotional stress which can alienate them from their friends and family. The use of sport or outdoor activities has a proven track record to aid successful physical and psychological rehabilitation.
In order to provide a long term training objective Team Battle Back is aiming to enter an 8-person team in the Race Across America (RAAM) 2012 with support from Help for Heroes.
The RAAM is one of the worlds pre-eminent and longest running endurance cycling events, beginning in Oceanside, CA and ending in Annapolis, MD. Competitors climb well over 100,000 feet while passing through 12 states and covering a total distance of 3,000
miles.

About Help for Heroes
Help for Heroes offers comprehensive support to those who have suffered life-changing injuries and illnesses whilst serving our country. This is provided through grants to individuals, other Service charities, capital build projects and our four Recovery Centres across the UK, in Catterick, Colchester, Tidworth and Plymouth. These will offer support for life. The money raised by the hugely generous public has been used to support our wounded, but there is still so much more to do. Soldiers, sailors and airmen who are injured today will still need our support tomorrow and in the days that follow, for the rest of their lives. They are still battling and we won't let them battle alone.
