Galloways Society for the Blin ...
Hello and Welcome!
Galloway’s Society for the Blind was established in 1867 and our Mission Statement is “To enable people with a visual impairment to gain greater independence and minimise the effects of reduced vision”. Today we support more than 6,500 blind and visually impaired people across Lancashire and beyond. This number increases every year and in order to maintain and improve the services provided, we need to raise around £750,000 annually. To do this we are reliant upon the goodwill and generosity of people like you who help us through gifts, donations and legacies and through supporting our various fund-raising initiatives. Our services to blind people include Talking Newspapers, tapes and magazines, resource aids and specialised equipment, outdoor and sporting activities, arts and crafts, holidays and days out, a children’s group, cookery, 13 social centres and much more. As life expectancy increases, so more people have some form of visual impairment. This can be a very traumatic experience and Galloway’s is proud of its record of helping many to come to terms with their situation and, indeed, lots of people tell us that they do more with limited vision than they did when they had full sight. You can help us to make a difference. Thank you.
