Hello and Welcome!
Small is beautiful!! Our charity, based in Kenya, has chosen to focus on the needs of children, particularly those at risk of or with HIV. Careful research has demonstrated a lack of paediatric support in the area of Laikipia East in the Rift Valley. Starting very small, we are now running regular outreach clinics to different areas including a remarkable children’s education centre called OLPEC (Our Lady of Perpetual Help Educational Centre). This centre houses, feeds and educates over 250 children at the primary level and relies entirely on donations. Their exam results are some of the best in the area. Our active partner is Gertrude’s Children’s Hospital in Nairobi which is run to the highest standards with staff as passionate about the health of the children as we are. Through this partnership, children in desperate need of help have been taken into care with the approval of their relations and nursed back to health in spite of being HIV positive.
Why should you help us? First of all, and perhaps most important, we know where every penny is being spent and why. Secondly, by carefully identifying projects with the greatest need, we can get things done. Currently we are deciding how we can best help the children at OLPEC where 50% are orphans. Money is badly needed in several areas. Recently we upgraded two buildings to provide an extra girls dormitory and a classroom to relieve the overcrowding. We fully maintain four children. We need to improve the night toilets which are not hygienic. We need to provide hot water for personal use and laundry. The children have no playground. All these have been agreed with the outstanding Director Father Kishare who has given his all and more to the centre. Regular visits by the trustees ensure that the projects move on. What better way to spend your money than in the future of these children??
