The Rotary Club of Loddon Vale
Hello and Welcome!
The Rotary Club of Loddon Vale is aiming to raise £10,000 for local charities in the Reading area by obtaining sponsorship for a number of cyclists who will each ride the 950 miles from Land’s End to John O’Groats over 14 days between the 7th and 20th July 2012. The route will pass up through the West Country and then into wales, along the Wye Valley, passing through Chester, the edge of the Lake District, into Scotland up through Inverness and on to John O’Groats. The Charities being supported are:
• Reading Alzheimer’s Society. The aim is to raise £5,000 towards this charity. Two of the riders have personal experience of how debilitating and devastating this disease is to families. When you think that the latest estimate is that only 40% of all Alzheimer’s sufferers have been diagnosed, then the scale of this issue is huge and needs much attention. www.alzheimers.org.uk • Woodley War Memorial Fund. The aim is to raise £1,500 towards this fund. The Rotary Club of Loddon Vale is based in the Woodley area. Woodley has no public War Memorial and with British service personnel still dying, it is believed that the town needs somewhere for the public to recognise the sacrifices made and still being made. • Friends of Bridges. The aim is to raise £2,000 towards this charity. Woodley based, it is a charity providing high quality short break care for local disabled children and young people aged 8 - 18. The centre provides much needed support and respite for them and their families, it also supports the development of life skills while the children and young people have fun. Rotary Club of Loddon Vale Charity fund. The aim is to raise £1,500 towards the charity fund of the RCLV Group so that we can allocate to any cause that arises during the 2012/2013 year.
