The St Lazarus Foundation is the charitable arm of the Order of St Lazarus, an order of chivalry dating back to the days of the crusades. Today the Order is still heavily involved with the relief of leprosy, working in conjunction with other official bodies which have been set up to provide relief for leprosy patients. The World Health Organisation currently estimates that there are fifteen million sufferers today of whom only three and a half million are receiving any form of treatment. In addition to this the Commanderies may also support local charities such as hospices, work amongst children and the aged and with international charities with which members have a specific link.No administration costs are taken out of our charitable funds, so you can be sure that your donation will be well spent.
