St. Mary's is the Anglican Parish Church serving the village of Datchet in Berkshire (UK). We are an active, friendly and welcoming Church with an increasing number of young parents and children joining our services. We are entirely self-funded and do not receive any money from the Government. On top of regularly giving money to fund the running cost of the Church, 50% of the congregation also give a considerable amount of their time volunteering in various roles to keep cost to an absolute minimum. Whilst growing in numbers we are limited by the space we have available for our activities. During Sunday Services all available space in Church and in the “Church Room” is used and the Crèche has to be held in the Vicarage. Also, due to lack of space most other meetings and activities during the week have to be held in Church or in outside locations. However, we are looking optimistic into the future. We have developed plans to replace our current “Church Room” – a small prefab building which is over 30 years old and in a dilapidated state – with a bigger, good quality building which will last for many generations to come. This building shall be more than just a Church Room – it shall be a Church Community Centre, a centre that can be used by the whole Community, a place for people to meet, learn and have fun. Our planning application has been approved and the build shall commence in 2011 if we have sufficient funds to do so. Your donation is vital to raise the necessary funds of £600,000.
