VISION 2020 UK is an umbrella charity endeavouring to bring the multitude of service providers and professionals together to provide seamless services to those, at risk of, or affected by sight loss. It uniquely combines the skills, knowledge and resources of over 40 International, National and regional organisations involved in preventing sight loss, enhancing services to those involved in the sight loss journey, and ultimately improving the quality of life to those experiencing sight loss.DONATIONS WILL:• Support the supply of much needed information in appropriate formats to: those experiencing sight loss; professionals working with them; plus their family and friends who support them• The provision of training events and seminars to those working with all aspects of sight loss prevention and those who have unfortunately lost their sight.(latest estimates put this at nearly 2 million as at 2009 rising to almost double that by 2050!)• The provision of events focussed on children with a vision impairment and the key areas of integration and inclusion in education and society (it is estimated that there are approximately 25,000 children with sight loss in the UK)• Supporting 80 Low Vision Committees throughout England which provide much needed and valued user input into the planning, commissioning and evaluation of local Low Vision Services• Supporting working groups focussing on a diverse range of key issues affecting vision impaired people such as the impact of technology on their lives, ophthalmic and social research, Primary Care and macular disease and emotional support.HOW WE USE YOUR MONEYWe are a registered charity, do not have costly premises and thus ensure that over 90 percent of funds donated go direct to the programmes and not on overheads.
