Hello and Welcome from Distress & Diversion Cell Cycle 4 Heroes

Across the finish line! 300 miles in 15.32hrs
Welcome to the Distress and Diversion Cell Help 4 Heroes donation page.  As serving RAF personnel we are acutely aware of the plight of those colleagues of ours that need real help.  This is our chance to help provide that support by raising funds for this excellent cause.
On 16th July, a team of D&D staff will cycle a distance of 300 miles in 24 hours.  The distance represents the mileage between D&D at LATCC(Mil) based at Swanwick to our Scottish counterparts at D&D ScATCC(Mil) based at Prestwick.
Unfortunately, as we still have to be ready to answer the call for any aircraft emergency in the UK 24/7, we can't physically leave D&D all at the same time to cycle to Scotland, so our cunning plan is to complete the 300 miles on an exercise bicycle!

During 2009, D&D answered the call for over 1200 aircraft emergencies ranging from minor technical problems, to lost aircraft and also the very serious MAYDAY calls.  Our job is to provide pilots with the safest possible recovery to the nearest runway as quickly as possible and to ensure that search and rescue services are alerted as soon as possible.  We now ask if you would help support us by donating some money towards the Help for Heroes charity.  Every penny (or pound!) counts and by donating here, 100% of your donation will go to the charity.  Your money will make a big difference to someone who has given a huge sacrifice for their country.

Finally, from all the D&D staff,  a big THANK YOU for your support and wish us luck with the saddle-sores!!

About Help for Heroes

Help for Heroes offers comprehensive support to those who have suffered life-changing injuries and illnesses whilst serving our country. This is provided through grants to individuals, other Service charities, capital build projects and our four Recovery Centres across the UK, in Catterick, Colchester, Tidworth and Plymouth. These will offer support for life. The money raised by the hugely generous public has been used to support our wounded, but there is still so much more to do. Soldiers, sailors and airmen who are injured today will still need our support tomorrow and in the days that follow, for the rest of their lives. They are still battling and we won't let them battle alone.
