Help for Heroes
Thank you for visiting the HM Prison Inverness Help 4 Heroes fundraising page.
4 Prison Officers from Inverness Prison are attempting to scale 3 peaks within one 24 hour period. The peaks are Snowdon in Wales, Scafell Pike in the Lake District and Ben Nevis by Ft William. This period includes all the driving as well.
The challenge will be taking place over the weekend of 24th & 25th July 2010.
As an extra to our own fundraising, four prisoners have undertaken a sponsored marathon within the confines of the prison walls. They each ran a distance of 6.6 miles. The total time taken to cover the distance of 26.4 miles was 3hrs 53 minutes and 09 seconds. They were sponsored by both other prisoners and staff and have helped to boost the amount raised so far. Thanks lads, your efforts are welcomed and appreciated.
Donating through this page is simple, quick and secure. It is the most efficient way to give – so every donation goes further – and if you are a UK taxpayer and give Gift Aid consent the charity will receive an extra 28% at no cost to you.
Please support us by donating what you can towards this worthwhile charity. We feel our servicemen and women deserve our wholehearted support.
Thank you for your support. We are all chomping at the bit to get started so the more donations that come in, the better the driving force for us to spur us onwards and hopefully upwards (at least up the hills anyway)

UPDATE
Well, the guys did us proud. we travelled to Wales on Friday 23rd and stayed overnight with David & Lesley Williams. They put up the whole team, 7 in all and fed us as well. Thanks guys, it was really appreciated.
The start at Snowdon was a wet one which kind of set the scene for the rest of the challenge. At Scafell Pike the rain was still coming down and the guys soldiered on and set a blistering pace which was just as well as we kept losing time driving due to the excessive traffic and road works during the day. We made up some time on the overnight drive up to Ft William and the guys set of to scale Ben Nevis in complete darkness. They arrived back at the support vehicle in an incredible total challenge time of 22 hours and 52 minutes. They were drenched on each and every climb but still kept on going.
Well done guys.
The fundraising does not stop here though and continues for a wee while yet so there is still time to make a donation if you want either online or by sending a cheque made out to Help for Heroes to me Gordon Allan at HM Prison, Duffy Drive, Inverness IV2 3HH.
Thanks again to all who have donated online or sponsored us.

About Help for Heroes
Help for Heroes offers comprehensive support to those who have suffered life-changing injuries and illnesses whilst serving our country. This is provided through grants to individuals, other Service charities, capital build projects and our four Recovery Centres across the UK, in Catterick, Colchester, Tidworth and Plymouth. These will offer support for life. The money raised by the hugely generous public has been used to support our wounded, but there is still so much more to do. Soldiers, sailors and airmen who are injured today will still need our support tomorrow and in the days that follow, for the rest of their lives. They are still battling and we won't let them battle alone.
