Hello and Welcome from Jamie Curtis
The Piste 2 Plage Challenge will be a tough, four day journey across the Alps. It starts in the ski resort of Sainte Foy Tarentaise, high in the Haute Savoie region, and finishes up in NIce, on the Mediterranean.
Over the four days myself and fellow P2P comrades will cycle over 440kms and gain over 27,500 vertical feet, taking in seven infamous mountain cols from the Tour de France, including Col de l'Iseran, Col du Galibier and the intimidating Cime de la Bonnette. And by the time we reach the Med we will have ridden a combined total of 55,000kms, nearly twice the circumference of the earth! Why? To raise as much money as possible for Help for Heroes. A charity dedicated to helping our wounded soldiers, who have been injured whilst serving their country.
With your help we are aiming to raise enough money to build a hydrotherapy pool in the Phoenix Centre, a state of the art rehabilitation centre, which is currently under construction at Tedworth House. This pool will form a vital part of an injured soldiers rehabilitation during their time at Tedworth House. Donating through this page is simple, quick and secure. It is the most efficient way to give – so every donation goes further – and if you are a UK taxpayer and give Gift Aid consent you will boost your donation.
We've got a lot of mates in the army over here and it's genuinely terrifying when you have guys you grew up with having to go over to Afghanistan as part of their day job, …..when all we have to do is sit at our nicely air-conditioned desks and play with computers.
I hope and pray that none of our friends will need to use the services of this great charity, but for all those brave soldiers that do, we will do our bit to raise as much as we can for them to be looked after as best as possible when they get home.
If you could spare a moment to donate anything you can, however small, we would be incredibly grateful.
Thank you very much for all your support.
About Help for Heroes
What is H4H all about? It's about the blokes, our men and women of the Armed Forces. It's about Derek, a rugby player who has lost both his legs, it about Carl whose jaw is wired up so he has been drinking through a straw. It's about Richard who was handed a mobile phone as he lay on the stretcher so he could say goodbye to his wife. It's about Ben, it's about Steven and Andy and Mark, it's about them all. They are just blokes but they are our blokes; they are our heroes. We want to help our heroes.
Please note, the Bmycharity website will be closing on 31st December 2015. Help for Heroes can no longer create new fundraising pages (however, donations to existing pages are accepted until the closure). If you would like to create a fundraising page in support of H4H, please visit https://www.justgiving.com/helpforheroes/
If you have any questions at all, or want to talk through the transition process, please contact Bmycharity on 01980 846459 or firstname.lastname@example.org
