About Lifecycle Malta
The LifeCycle Organisation was founded in Malta in 1999 to create awareness and generate support for patients suffering from end stage renal disease. To do this it organizes the LifeCycle Challenge, which is one of the most gruelling endurance events in Europe, pitting a dedicated team of Maltese cyclists against the elements in a long distance ride through different countries all over the world. This event covers an average of 2,000km in a mere 10 to 12 days and is held annually in the summer months.By putting such an extreme event together, LifeCycle intends to attract the Maltese public’s attention to the plight of patients of the Renal Unit in Malta, and to encourage generous donations from the public.
These donations go towards the cost of treatment, equipment, research and improving the quality of life of patients on dialysis. Having achieved our financial target for 2010 by raising more than €200,000 and our other goal of increasing Malta's organ donor register by 1,000 names we hope that we will repeat or exceed both these achievements in 2011.
