Hello and Welcome from Haute Route 2012

Over the period 19 – 25 August 2012, I will be competing in the gruelling Haute Route Cycle Sportive in aid of Help for Heroes

Of all the global cycle sportives, the Haute Route has been labelled as the most challenging and toughest amateur cycling challenge. It will consist of 500 riders, crossing the Alps from the Lake Geneva to the Mediterranean, in seven timed stages, each featuring some of the most legendary cols in the world. Over the 7 days, the race will cover 780km, and involve over 21000 metres of climbing. Further details are available at the official website:

For the 2012 event, I have been selected as the sole UK charity representative, and I have decided to cycle and raise funds on behalf of Help for Heroes (H4H). As you may be aware, Help for Heroes is a UK charity, aimed at supporting men and women of the UK Armed Forces who have been wounded in the service of the country since 9/11. H4H provides direct, practical support for the wounded, funding projects and initiatives that make a real difference to the lives of our heroes.

This is expected to be a daunting physical and mental challenge, and I have been in preparation since January. Without doubt, this is going to be one of the toughest challenges I have experienced – please make it that extra special by supporting my participation through donations to Help for Heroes.

Donating through this page is simple, quick and secure. It is the most efficient way to give - so every donation goes further - and if you are a UK taxpayer and give Gift Aid consent you will boost your donation.

Many thanks for taking the time to visit this page, and thank you in advance for your support.

About Help for Heroes

Help for Heroes offers comprehensive support to those who have suffered life-changing injuries and illnesses whilst serving our country. This is provided through grants to individuals, other Service charities, capital build projects and our four Recovery Centres across the UK, in Catterick, Colchester, Tidworth and Plymouth. These will offer support for life. The money raised by the hugely generous public has been used to support our wounded, but there is still so much more to do. Soldiers, sailors and airmen who are injured today will still need our support tomorrow and in the days that follow, for the rest of their lives. They are still battling and we won't let them battle alone.
