The fundraising page for Leigh 'Ned' Kedwell

In May 2010 I will take part in a Cycle ride of up to 80 miles a day for five days through the Battlefields of France ending in Dunkirk where we will meet a flotilla of small ships to commemorate Operation Dynamo - the evacuation of the British Expeditionary Forces in 1940.

I have tried to get on this signature event for the last two years and am very pleased and honoured to get a place on the ride for 2010.

I am an Ex soldier but in my day we just waited for the Russians to roll over europe, something I beleive we all knew deep down was not going to happen.

Since I left the army many conflicts have taken place where our lads have been sent to defend or fight for people they do not know, places like the Gulf & Bosnia and more recently Iraq & Afganistan - and they have done it with the same sense of purpose I remember all those years ago.

To watch the news stories of our troops losing their lives is bad enough but to see the figures for those wounded is astounding and I feel obliged to do what I can to help - if these guys can pick themselves up, shake themselves down and get on with life no matter what injuries they hold then putting myself through a few months of training and five days of cycling is childs play compared to their efforts.

I am doing this not because I think war is a good thing but because we owe it to every service man or woman and all that support and care for them should they fall or be injured.

To EVERYONE involved at Help for Heroes and espeicially the Heroes themselves..............

I salute you and beg that you accept my small small effort with as much heart as it is given.

Donating through this page is simple, quick and secure. It is the most efficient way to give – so every donation goes further – and if you are a UK taxpayer and give Gift Aid consent the charity will receive an extra 28% at no cost to you.

Thank you for your support and please please please give as much as you can, all and any amount will be as welcome as the next.

Cheers

Leigh 'Ned' Kedwell (I would like to hear from any others taking part - bike@fsmail.net)
