Cycle to Cannes
Hello and Welcome from Lara Cole
Cycle to Cannes 2012
After my charity cycle from London to Paris last summer I thought I should set myself a new challenge for 2012. In a moment of all I can think was sheer madness, I have signed up for the Aedas Cycle to Cannes 2012, a gruelling cycle challenge leaving from London on 1 March and arriving in Cannes, on 6 March, in time for the start of MIPIM.Eversheds are fully supportive of this mammoth task and are backing one of my colleagues and I to partake in the event. There will be about 80 of us, all like minded property professionals who are together embarking on this gruelling physical challenge. Whilst we are cycling across the French countryside we can be boosted when the going gets tough, (and I am sure it will get very tough) by the knowledge that we are raising money for charity.
Your support in sponsoring me would be very welcomed and appreciated, I have a personal target of £3,000 to raise. Please think of me out there training through the wind and rain and yes, now freezing temperatures and even snow. Being outside with the ice and dark nights have however beaten me and this is when I turn to the turbo trainer. Anyone who has sat on a bike in the gym for 30 minutes, will realise that the patience of a saint is required to carry on peddling for hours on end, it helps therefore that interior design has gone out the window for a few months and my bike now graces my living room with pride of place in front of the tv !!
About Cycle to Cannes
Cycle to Cannes is closely allied with a number of important charities and this year we want to make grants of at least £200,000. We assist one core charity and four subsidiary charities. Two-thirds of the money raised in 2013 will go towards the work of Coram, with Article 25, Tom's Trust, The MSA Trust and the Emthonjeni Trust receiving smaller grants.
As the UK’s first ever children’s charity, Coram has achieved a lot since 1739, but we want to help them continue that success. We want money raised to change the lives of over 10,000 children throughout the UK in the coming year. Funding will be split between their Adoption service and schools based health education programme. We want to give; 10 children in care the chance of a better future by finding and preparing new adoptive parents who can go on to provide the safe, loving and permanent home these children need; 30 adopted children and their families a lifetime of support, whenever they need it; 10,000 children the chance to develop the skills they need to make healthier choices in life. The remaining money will be split between Article 25, The Multiple System Atrophy Trust, Tom's Trust and Emthonjeni Trust.
