Hope and Play
Hello and Welcome from London to Paris Cyclists
London to Paris Bike Ride 2008
Thank you for visiting our fundraising page.
30 of us from Conchango, EMC Consulting and partners will be cycling about 200 miles from London to Paris from 26th to 28th September in support of Hope and Play's Educational Laptop Appeal.
We believe that every child has the right to play, learn and grow in a safe and healthy environment. Hope and Play is dedicated to helping add hope and play to the lives of children who are denied these most basic rights. The project we are raising sponsorship
for is to provide educational laptops to children living under occupation in refugee camps and villages on the West Bank and Gaza. The objective is to use education as a way to help give them hope for a future that is happy, meaningful and productive.
Last year, our group raised funds to build two playgrounds. This year, we aim to buy at least 100 laptops.
Hope and Play's founders and volunteers cover all its admin and overhead expenses, so your full sponsorship money will go to support this project.
Donating through this page is simple, quick and secure. It is the most efficient way to give – so every donation goes further – and if you are a UK taxpayer and give Gift Aid consent the charity will receive an extra 28% at no cost to you.
Our group ranges from the super-fit semi-pro cyclist, to middle-age wannabees who should know better. Thank you for your support to the sore legs and sorry back-sides of the latter!
Our cyclists, in no particular order, are Matt Bagwell, Ray Hebberd, Michelle Flynn, Lynne Davidson, Neil Linford-Relph, Tony Rahman, Phil Marshalsea, Iyas AlQasem, Neale Napier, Heidi Lin, Mark Taylor, George Lowe, Dan Perrin, Linda Pakuls, Mark Peters, Marcus
Alexander, John Brookmyre, Rob Venti, Dan Pipe, Martin Philpott, Liz Busch, Matt Pilgrim, Martin Cook, Mark Taylor, Kay Adeyemi, Dan Searle, Jay Collis, Dave Wright and Josie Williams.

About Hope and Play
At Hope and Play, we believe that every child has the right to play, learn and grow in a safe, healthy and fun environment. We support children who are denied this, and whose lives as a consequence are harsh and unkind. We do this by supporting their education with textbooks, laptops, and other educational materials and resources, and by supporting their creative play by building playgrounds for them to have places to play safely. We will also help directly where there is an immediate humanitarian need. Through this, we aim to create opportunities for children and give them hope in a brighter future that they can have some control over.
Our first areas of focus are schools and communities to in the occupied territories of Gaza and the West Bank, and communities in Bangladesh. We have minimal admin overhead, as the organisation's activities are carried out on a voluntary basis by people who want to help. All admin costs are covered entirely by our founders. So you can be assured that every single penny of your donations will go to support this project. Please help support our direct projects by donating and sponsoring to our campaigns.
