Hope and Play London to Paris 2009 Bike Ride

Update - This event has already helped more than 800 children in Gaza!
Through sponsorship raised by this event, we have funded a beach location for UNRWA's Summer Games, which had more than 800 children playing and
taking part in cultural events. For many, although living only a few miles from it, this was the first time they saw the sea. Please
see our details and pictures (including the one here), and most importantly, please sponsor our ride.
50 of us are braving the weather risk, the credit risk, and the sanity risk to cycle the 200+ miles from London to Paris September 4th to 6th. We are doing this to help the plight of the children of Gaza.
These children's lives were already harsh before the war in Gaza in December and January delivered a devastating combination of trauma, disability and sadness. Hundreds of thousands have been maimed, orphaned, made homeless and
had their education disrupted, and most are suffering from severe post-traumatic stress disorder. You can read about the impact of this on these children at our

We want to give them gifts of hope, health and happiness.If you would see it in your heart and your wallet to support us to try to build a more hopeful future for children in Gaza, please sponsor our ride.
Donating through this page is simple, quick and secure. It is the most efficient way to give – so every donation goes further – and if you are a UK taxpayer and give Gift Aid consent the charity will receive an extra 28% at no cost to you. And all admin costs
are covered by the founders and voluunteers, so you can be assured that your money will only go to the projects we are working on.

About Hope and Play (Hope and Play London to Paris 2009 Bike Ride)
We are getting together a group of 50 people to cycle from London to Paris on September 4th to 6th to raise money for children in Gaza.These children's lives were already harsh before the war in Gaza in December and January delivered a devastating combination of trauma, disability and sadness. You can read about the impact of this on these children at our media page. We want to give them gifts of hope, health and happiness.So we will be cycling the 200+ miles from London to Paris to raise money for leisure and educational initiatives through the charity, Hope and Play. We did this ride last year (read about it and see our photos), and had a great time while raising in excess of £23,000. The ride starts from just south of the City of London, and ends at Gare du Nord. The ambitious seek out additional hills and 'scenery' en route, the less so attempt to follow the straightest and flattest line from start to finish.

More important than any of our gratitude, you will make a direct difference to children who would benefit from play that would give them childhood, and education that would give them hope for a more positive future than the fairly bleak one that is imposed on them today.
