Sandes Soldier's Centre
Hello and Welcome from Matt Woollard
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
SANDES Pirbright(Surrey) is a Christian Charity which provides significant welfare support to our soldiers, Their families and the wider Pirbright military community. The aim of my charity bike ride is to raise money for vital repairs to the Pirbright SANDES centre which requires some £230K to achieve a complete renovation and modernisation of their building facility. I plan to conduct a charity bike ride from the SANDES centre in Pirbright to the SANDES centre in Harrogate (at the Army Foundation College) and then back again, raising money for the much neede renovation and repair work to be carried out. I suffered significant injuries during OP HERRICK 6 in 2007 as the result of a mine strike. This resulted in the amputation of my right leg, severe damage to both arms and my left groin and abdomen. This challenge is unique in the fact that I will be cycling the full distance as a single leg amputee.
Thank you for your support.
About Sandes Soldier's Centre
Sandes is a Christian Charity which provides outreach, friendship and welfare facilities to members of HM forces. We have run Centres on military bases for personnel and their families since 1869, and have developed a unique character that makes them easily identifiable as Sandes.
There has been a Sandes centre at Pirbright since 1970 and it is used extensively by both members of 1 Royal Anglian and recruits from the Army Training Centre, Sandes is housed in an all wooden building dating back to the late 1940's and is in need of extensive refurbishment.
