Hello and Welcome from Simon and Alex Hearn
"The Caring For Courage North Pole Expedition - April 2012"
In April 2012 Simon Hearn and his second son, Alex, completed their expedition to the North Pole from a Russian ice station, Barneo, on the moving ice pack. The 10 man team, comprising Brits, Chinese, Americans, a Singaporean, and an Australian finished the trek in 8 days. We encountered polar bears from a distance and some very rugged terrain - although general conditions were good. The average temp was between -20 and -28.
Thank you for visiting our fundraising page.
WE WOULD LIKE TO SAY A HUGE THANK YOU TO ALL THOSE WHO HAVE SUPPORTED US !! 12 June 2012
About Royal Scots Dragoon Guards "Caring For Courage"
Caring for Courage is an appeal of The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards Regimental Trust. The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards are Scotland’s senior regiment and her only regular cavalry and are currently based in Germany as the main armoured force for the 7th Armoured Brigade (the Desert Rats). The Regiment deployed to Afghanistan for a seven month period in 2011 as part of 3 Commando Brigade. Although casualties during the deployment were mercifully few, very sadly, one soldier attached to the regiment was killed and one of the regiment’s troopers sustained serious life changing injuries from which he is still recovering. Elements of the Regiment will return to Afghanistan for a further deployment in August 2013. Although it is fervently hoped that all will return to their loved ones unhurt, Afghanistan remains a dangerous theatre of operations. The Regiment therefore wishes to make adequate provision to support its people in the years to come from both the physical and psychological injuries of war.
The aim of the appeal is therefore to raise funds to help wounded soldiers and the families of those who are killed or wounded. The money you give us will enable us to offer practical help to deal with their loss and to overcome the physical and psychological damage in the years to come. Please consider donating to this very worthy cause. Thank you.
