The Old Cats Rugby Football Club Cycle Challenge This season Old Caterhamians RFC is raising funds for The Help for Heroes charity (H4H). Headley Court Military Rehabilitation Hospital is near our club. The hospital provides a range of services including rehabilitation for serving personnel from all three services who have suffered spinal, neurological or amputation injuries. Many of those patients have suffered their injuries on active service. H4H has made donations for major building projects at Headley Court. We are now fund raising via H4H to raise money to purchase specialist equipment for the hospital gymnasium and pool. Why are we doing it It’s about the blokes, our men and women of the Armed Forces. It’s about Derek, a rugby player who has lost both his legs, it’s about Carl whose jaw is wired up so he has been drinking through a straw. It’s about Richard who was handed a mobile phone as he lay on the stretcher so he could say goodbye to his wife. It’s about Ben, it’s about Steven and Andy and Mark, it’s about them all. They are just blokes but they are our blokes; they are our heroes. We want to help our heroes.

About Help for Heroes
The charity Help for Heroes was launched in October 2007 in order to provide direct, practical support to those wounded, sick or injured in the line of duty since 9/11. All the funds raised to date are either allocated or spent on the direct, practical support of those wounded in the current conflicts. To date, H4H has funded a variety of projects including the £8m Rehabilitation Complex at Headley Court, a new £3.5m treatment centre for Combat Stress, adaptive adventure training through the Battle Back programme and the creation of a £6m Quick Reaction Fund to support individuals in need.
