FAN Oliver Smith

Hello and Welcome from FAN Oliver Smith

The Oliver Smith Appeal

Hello this is my beautiful son Oliver Smith, my only child and pride and joy. Oliver is just 2 years old, but he is fighting an aggressive form of childhood Cancer, the deadly Neuroblastoma.

Oliver is like any other 2 year old boy. He likes fireman Sam, Peppa Pig, loves balloons and footballs. Unlike other children, Oliver only has a small chance of growing up because sadly, around 80% of children with Neuroblastoma will relapse, and there is currently no UK relapse protocol.

Oliver has already endured over a years treatment which so far has gone well. My concern is for his future and I need to make sure, should Oliver relapse, he has a fund that will allow him urgent and immediate life saving treatment abroad.

These treatments, can cost in excess of £300,000. Many relapses can be treated successfully with a pioneering therapy in Germany called RIST. This will cost around £150,000. Should Oliver relapse in the brain, he will need specialised treatment in America that will cost twice as much.

As a mother, I never thought I would experience anything like this, you always think you will have a healthy child. With your help. I hope to have a long and happy life with Oliver, and he deserves that chance too.

You can also donate directly into Oliver's Natwest bank account. Account number - 88715809, Sort Code – 55-81-28.

About Families Against Neuroblastoma (FAN)

FAN needs your support in many ways. Donations made to FAN will primarily be used to directly support our families. It will help provide the children with days out, wish experiences, and other things that are all intended to boost moral and put a smile on everyone's face. We firmly believe this can help make a positive impact on the success of the child's treatment. Unfortunately, not all our children will survive, and therefor it is vitally important that we can help pack as much fun into their short lives as we possible can, and leave the family with precious memories to cherish after they have gone.

A donation to a child's individual appeal will be held for the sole use of that child for treatment or for quality of life. These appeals often have a very high target due to the enormity of the medical expenses, and are therefor dependant on the generosity of donations from the general public. This really can mean the difference between life and death. Should the child no longer need the money raised in their name, funds will either become available to other children within the charity, moved to our emergency fund, donated to Neuroblastoma research, donated to our general fund, or a combination of all four, as agreed with the family.
