Walk on the Wild Side - General Donations

Hello and Welcome from Walk on the Wild Side - General Donations

Charity Challenge

This page is for general donations for the Walk on the Wild Side challenge; if you are not sponsoring any particular participant but would still like to make a donation please donate here.

Challenge Leader Dave Urwin will also be entering a number of running events this year in an effort to raise funds in line with this challenge. These include Run in the Wild 10k at Cricket St. Thomas near Chard on Sunday 5th June and the Torbay Half Marathon on Sunday 19th June. Now also the imposing Somerset Levels and Moors Marathon on September 10th, which just happens to be his 30th birthday! This page can also be used to sponsor Dave for these events - it will all go to the same pot!

Walk on the Wild Side will be taking place on the 2nd July 2011 and is a walking challenge in the Quantocks to raise funds for Mind in Taunton and West Somerset and Somerset Wildlife Trust's 'Go Wild, Stay Well' project. This project enables people who experience mental distress to feel the therapeutic benefits of nature by taking part in conservation work on several nature reserves in the Quantock and Blackdown hills.

Donating through this page is simple, quick and secure. It is the most efficient way to give – so every donation goes further – and if you are a UK taxpayer and give Gift Aid consent the charity will receive an extra 28% at no cost to you.

Thank you for your support.

About Mind in Taunton and West Somerset

One in four – this is how many of us will experience a mental health problem at some point in our lives. Support services are improving and the stigma surrounding mental illness is gradually reducing, but there is still much work to be done. Mind in Taunton and West Somerset is an independent, local organisation, affiliated to Mind, the leading mental health charity in England and Wales. Our Objectives are to promote good mental health and emotional well-being; encourage greater understanding of mental health issues; provide high quality mental health services and support and enable genuine service user/survivor involvement and consultation in the development of services. We campaign for the right of people who experience mental ill-health to be treated with respect, to be given equal access to services and opportunities in the community and to have control over the care and treatment they receive. We work towards reducing the stigma associated with mental ill-health and reducing the resulting social exclusion of those with mental health difficulties.

We help over 2000 people every year by:Enabling people with severe and enduring mental health problems to build confidence and stay well by taking part in structured activities including arts and crafts, sports and conservation groups. Providing confidential out of hours telephone support for people in crisis and for their carers. Helping people in isolated communities to access the services they need. Providing opportunities for volunteering for service users and survivors wanting to learn new skills and take on new challenges. But we cannot do this without your help. Please support Mind in Taunton and West Somerset.
