Help for Heroes
Hello and Welcome from Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge
Thank you for visiting our fundraising page!
On Saturday 4th September 2010 our team completed the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge.
This challenge saw the team traversing 24.5miles (39.2km), 5,000ft of climbing and conquering the 3 highest peaks in Yorkshire, all in 12hours.
The walk started in Horton-in-ribblesdale, quickly summiting the first peak Pen-y-Gehnt (2277ft), we made our way to the second peak crossing Hull Pot and Black Dubb Moss Bog. Following a particularly undulating and demanding route we reached our second peak,
Whernside (2415ft). Once conquered, we made our way to the 3rd and final peak, Ingleborough (2372ft) from its summit the team had one last blast, a 1.5km run to the finish.
All team members finished the challenge within 11hours, and had many blisters, aches and pains to show for it!
As part of the challenge we have decided to raise money for Help for Heroes, and allthough we have finished, you can still sponsor us. We would be very grateful for any donations.
About Help for Heroes
Help for Heroes offers comprehensive support to those who have suffered life-changing injuries and illnesses whilst serving our country. This is provided through grants to individuals, other Service charities, capital build projects and our four Recovery Centres across the UK, in Catterick, Colchester, Tidworth and Plymouth. These will offer support for life. The money raised by the hugely generous public has been used to support our wounded, but there is still so much more to do. Soldiers, sailors and airmen who are injured today will still need our support tomorrow and in the days that follow, for the rest of their lives. They are still battling and we won't let them battle alone.
